Misery: Monsters Aren't Always Mysterious
Wait are all those comments real? They know that the director said himself, that is supposed to be the true horror of the movie. She smiles and it's wrong for her to smile. Just cus your going through trauma and someone else is kinda being a dick doesn't mean you are ever aloud to murder them that makes you a hmm let me think A Sociopath aka if you think she is right your the same type of sick in the head.
The period blood scene was so disgusting to me.
great video man
I dont know man. When i watched this movie none of this stuff worked on me. Im a Christian tho, so i suppose the bleakness and isolation aren't attractive to me. This also enforces the notion that loving others is more important than being loved.
excellent video, thank you
I agree with most of the things said here, but people with facial deformities shouldn't be scary or used to be indicative of something unsettling. Maybe you should unpack that one.
This whole review of The Green Knight basically demonstrates that the reviewer has no idea what the story is about, but that's not stopping him from reviewing it, because hey! it's his opinion and so it must be right. And I mean, who says Essel is a prostitute? Male projection.
"Alt right figureheads scare people" as you sit in quaratine making this video is ironic lmao
This video really made me think about my own faith and perspective. Definitely it enters on my top 3 favorite videos of all time, it was a profound experience
top tier writing, congrats!
Ari Aster is Jewish? I wonder if he smiled when the Hamas (Harga) did what they did
I liked Christian best. He should have broken up with her, she is so damn needy it’s disgusting. I think she’s just as much a whack job as the other Harga
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I feel like the reason for Karras' long walk is also to show hopelessness, it feels like God abandoned us
The Christian slamming was really yucky
This is one of my favorite movies ever. And your thoughtful analysis of it is quite masterful. Thank you!
this movie has Wicker Man fingerprints all over it
Pelle is an absolute snake. Lol
Obviously I can’t be brainwashed -this movie was sick!
Yes, the Harga are a cult, but Christian and his friends are not good people. Literally every word out of Mark's mouth is mean-spirited, ignorant or offensive. They are the worst sort for people for her to be around. So what's best for Dani? btw, the Harga were NOT going to kill Dani, that's a bad misreading of the film.
Just go and watch The Wicker Man (the original). Same thing without the female revenge fantasy.
Idk whos saying that but I was terrified for her more than happy 😂
May God have mercy on ur backsliding cheeks
I dig this movie and I dig your analysis. Thank you
Hello, Nate. I love your work. I was wondering if, by any chance, you'd like to make an analysis on Lars von Trier's Antichrist? It suits the theme of the chanel or at least that s what i think.
Lol.. misommer reviewers are so pretentious.
Empowered? Warm feeling the ending gives???? No way anyone feels warm after this ending lmao I am concerned for those who do
Film: incredibly in-depth tale of psycho-sexual frustration, with constant allusions to myths and fables, power, gaslighting, all wrapped up in a beautiful period piece that plays with this almost cartoonish depiction of hemmingway-esque maritime masculinity This Analysis: CAPITALISM BAD, THE BIRDS ARE THE AMERICAN DREAM PECKING THE WORKER ALIVE, THE LIGHT IS LIKE THE FALSE PROMISES OF JEFF BEZOS so glad we're past this era of this style of essay lol, very reductive, always back to class consciousness and capitalism. dont get me wrong those themes are certainly present, but to take up 90% of your analysis is absurd. I'd recommend watching Novum's analysis if you're looking for a much more substantive and in-depth look into this film. The difference in views between the two essays is downright criminal when you compare the quality of analysis.
23:12 Fellowship, vulnerability with privilege.
21:40 Yeah, I get it. Being Born again, tho, like he said to Nicodemus , I wouldn’t put my worst enemy through that twice, unless he begged me, tho I don’t Think he would . Scary.
18:48 she is one of them >now< . Cults; Heaven for some, Hell for the Rest.
Brainwashed a lot of ppl into thinking it was a good movie although its obviously wasn't. Props for that I guess.
The only thing scarier than this movie is the amount of “background music” blasting throughout this entire video nearly drowning you out.
I haven’t watched it but just watching the start I understand she wasn’t smiling that way it was another way.
22:10 as an ex-Baptist, I can attest to how insane worship and altar call is. I went to a camp where they had a day that was completely non stop and no rest time like the other days. At the end of the worship they preached about being saved because god loved us. Then we separated into our cabins and we wrote down what we wanted god to forgive us for. I didn’t think of anything so because of that, I was put into a smaller group of other kids who didn’t write anything. We were berated with fire and brimstone and were gonna go to hell if we don’t let god in. I bent to what they wanted. Years later I found out if you didn’t do what they wanted at that time, you were sent home a day early and you’re no longer allowed to attend the camp. I’m Hellenistic pagan now and I’m significantly happier than I was before
you should do a vid on hereditary
29:10 This video is a wonderful companion piece to Folding Idea's analysis of the movie, incidentally...
i’ve seen all types of movies… this movie is the one movie that made me so incredibly uncomfortable! there were so many parts that just made my skin crawl. and the s3x scene in the barn with the people surrounding them moaning with them was so weird! i liked the plot of the movie but it was too creepy & too real for me.
It's funny how there's this sweet scent to the air in depression. You know it when it's there, yet despite overgrowing your lowly self in the struggle, you miss that heaviness, that sweet, sweet scent that depression brings.
This is one of the best and most interesting critic about Midsummer that I’ve ever heard! You’ve change my vision of this beautiful movie and I love it, thank you! I’m glad to have found your chanel
My ex always tried to get me to watch this movie. She actually was a part of some weird group so she might have been trying to tell me something. I never watched the movie cause I thought the name was dumb.
Just amazing, glad to have come across this video.
It's brutal reality....
I immensely disliked this movie and I really hated how some people were like “good for her” at the end. She’d literally just traded one bad relationship for an arguably worse one!
Glad I didn't watch the movie. As a Gen Xer, I got a similar realization as you report for this film from a made-for-television movie about a real social experiment a teacher did at a public high school showing the students how Europe could ever end up letting Hitler into their hearts. It was called "The Wave."
Still to this day it's stands up well. Just an amazing movie period. And no one but the demon won at the end. Pazuzu wanted to do what was done.
I like how you associated cults with the alt right but not the insane left.
Was I happy about the dickhead boyfriend getting burnt alive? Yeah, but honestly I am not a fan of men in general and he was objectively a shit man. Did I think it was a happy ending or smile with Dani? Hell no. Her smile was that of a mental breakdown, not actual joy. She was completely broken and smiling with madness. There was no triumph for Dani. She did not win. She did not survive. She may have opportunity to live long enough to begin to recover from this trauma but at the end of the movie she is not ok, she is just not dead.
This video definitely had made me think about life. I didn't like the ending of Midsommar because why would you be happy to be in a backwater ass civilization. But past trauma and what not could influence you to make this decision. I would love to have a reset button or a redo and live the perfect life, but there was Soo much exploitation in this, I'd rather live a crummy and loneliness life rather than this... Thanks to this video, I think I've become a LITTLE more content with my life
Unibrow Jesus for the win 🙌🏾
